Assessment for Early Developmental Concerns (EDC)
The Assessment for Early Developmental Concerns (EDC) is a comprehensive, standardised evaluation designed for preschool children to support early identification of developmental strengths and needs. The assessment is conducted by highly qualified practitioners using the Hong Kong Comprehensive Assessment Scales for Preschool Children (HKCAS‑P) or equivalent internationally recognised standardised assessment tools. This holistic assessment examines seven major developmental domains, including cognition, language, social cognition, visual perception, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, early literacy, and numeracy. The results provide a clear and structured understanding of a child’s developmental profile, supporting early intervention planning and targeted training recommendations. Where appropriate, findings are eligible for direct referral to the Social Welfare Department (SWD) Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services. The assessment is delivered in a calm, structured, and professional clinical environment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and child comfort.
