HMUN China
The stage of Model UN extends far beyond debates and resolution negotiations in committee rooms. Carrying forward the over 70-year classic tradition of Harvard Model United Nations, HMUN China has always believed that cultural exchange and intellectual engagement are equally vital components of youth diplomacy.
About Harvard MUN: A Century-Old Global Youth Diplomatic Institution
Harvard Model United Nations is the world's oldest and most influential high school Model UN activity. Its origins date back to 1923, when Harvard University hosted an intercollegiate Model League of Nations conference. In 1927, Harvard held its first Model UN conference for high school students, pioneering the global high school MUN movement. The first global high school Harvard MUN conference was officially held in 1953, and it has since celebrated 73 years of excellence.
As a core program of the Harvard International Relations Council (HIRC), Harvard MUN hosts its main conference annually in Boston, USA, with regional chapters in China, India, Dubai, Australia, and other countries and regions, attracting over 10,000 students worldwide each year.

HMUN China A Harvard-Level Academic Feast in China
Harvard Model United Nations China (HMUN China), one of the most important global chapters of Harvard MUN, has been successfully held in China for 15 consecutive sessions. It is widely recognized as one of the most academically rigorous and internationally diverse high school MUN conferences in Asia.
From August 15 to 18, 2026, the 16th HMUN China will grandly open at the Nansha International Convention & Exhibition Center in Guangzhou. Continuing Harvard MUN's long-standing tradition of academic excellence, this year's conference will feature 17 senior MUN chairs carefully selected from Harvard University, who will lead over 1,200 students from more than 20 countries and regions in an authentic Harvard MUN experience.
As conference preparations enter the final sprint, the signature featured events of this year's conference the Opening Ceremony Flag Parade, Director Panel, Global Village and Delegate Dance — have all been finalized. Starting today, registration and preparation for these events are officially launched. We sincerely invite all delegations to plan ahead and unlock the excitement beyond committee sessions in Nansha this August.
Opening Ceremony Flag Parade: Marching with Flags to Kick Off the Grand Event
During the opening ceremony procession, each school delegation will march into the venue with their school flag, officially embarking on this year's HMUN China journey under the spotlight of the entire audience. This is not only a shining moment for every delegation, but also the most iconic and ceremonial highlight of the opening ceremony.

We sincerely invite each school delegation to select 1 flag bearer to participate in the flag parade. Interested delegations may submit their registration application by one delegate on behalf of the delegation.
Notes for Flag Bearers
-
Flag bearers shall bring their own school flag to the ceremony; standard flagpoles will be provided on site.
-
School flag specification: 144cm x 96cm, standard rectangular shape.
Global Village: Bridging the World Through Culture
Known as the "World Expo" of Model UN, the Global Village is the most vibrant and diverse event at every conference.
Stepping out of their diplomat roles, delegates can share local customs, showcase cultural features, and connect through art, food and traditions — making cultural connection the most touching form of diplomatic communication.

This year's Global Village will be held at 18:30 on August 17, 2026 at the Guangzhou Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center. All delegations are welcome to sign up enthusiastically.

Exhibition Booths
The organizing committee will set up booths and provide basic decorations for participating delegations. Delegations may prepare their own exhibition content, including but not limited to: Cultural & creative items: themed bookmarks, traditional folding fans, calligraphy works, handcrafted crafts, origami, postcards, etc.
-
Cultural displays: national/regional traditional costumes, folk artifacts, themed photo walls, local souvenirs.
-
Interactive experiences: cosplay, live sketching, calligraphy, polaroid photo interactions, themed mini games, etc.

For this Global Village event, each booth is required to feature a lighthearted and engaging interactive mini- game. This will not only quickly boost foot traffic to your booth but also create a distinctive, fun-filled space that invites visitors to linger and explore.
Delegate Dance: Forging Friendships Through Melody

No professional dance skills required, no strict etiquette rules only a lighthearted atmosphere and like-minded peers. The HMUN China 2026 Delegate Dance will kick off at 20:00 on August 17, 2026.
